Babuji Vanitha Swayam sahaya charitable society works among the economically backward women of Kovalam, Thiruvallom, Vazhamuttam, pachalloor areas of Thiruvananthapuram District.
The society works to the goal of upliftment of women in this area through education. The society runs an English Medium School in this area for this goal. Free computer training, tailoring courses are given to the members of the society. Special tution classes and dance classes are organized for their children free of cost.
The society also undertakes social commitments like financial aid to widows, elders. Free vocational training (computer, tailoring and flower making ) to economically backward people of the area, mediacal aids to poor people, free education etc
Origin
Kovalam, Thiruvallom, vazhamuttam and Pachallor are small coastal villages in the thiruvananthapuram District of Kerala inhabited by a population of Fishermen, Quary workers and Coir workers.Babuji Vanitha charitable society started as women self help societies working among widows and poor housewives of this area.
Since 2004 the women in this area started working in women self help societies to bring some relif to their miseries.Every week they gather at one of the houses for their weekly meeting. The women draw a part of their weekly income to the society and it is given as loan to the members in need.This activity got good response from the public and more and more women self help societies got registered in the area.To control all these self help societies with the consent of all members they formed a charitable society named Babuji Vanitha charitable society with social worker Sri Surendra panicker as the Patron
Babuji vanitha charitable society runs with the money from their own members. No donations or help from the government is recieved till date.Sri Surendrapanikar also share a part of his income for the working of this charitable society. More than 500 families in this area are members of this charitable society now.

Sri N. Surendra Panicker works as the patron of Babuji vanitha Swayam Sahaya Charitable Society.Surendra panicker started social work in the early age of 14. He is pretty popular in the relegious, cultural and sports scenario of Trivandrum. served as the office bearer of relegious organisation for many years. Served as the board member of temple administrative board and some government institutions.
